Here is the top 10:
1. Pittsburgh Pirates - Gerrit Cole, RHP, UCLA - Best arm in the draft was throwing 99 MPH deep into the game in his last start.
2. Seattle Mariners - Anthony Rendon, 3B, Rice - The best college hitter to come out of the draft since Evan Longoria.
3. Arizona Diamondbacks - Danny Hultzen, LHP, UVA - Polish college lefty, his stuff has been a tick above what it was a year ago.
4. Baltimore Orioles - Dylan Bundy, RHP, Owasso HS - One of the best HS righties in a long time. Has the polish of a college pitcher, thats what entices the Orioles.
5. Kansas City Royals - Bubba Starling, OF, Gardner-Edgerton HS - I hear a lot that they want a college pitcher the ones they like are gone so am not gonna reach for a pitcher they go with a local product that has as much upside as anyone in this draft.
6. Washington Nationals - Trevor Bauer, RHP, UCLA - Rumors say that they covet him so I'll concur.
7. Arizona Diamondbacks - Francisco Lindor, SS, Monteverde Academy - This is also a hot spot for pitcher but I think Lindor makes sense. I've hear too much good stuff about Lindor from scouts for him to fall.
8. Cleveland Indians - Matt Barnes, RHP, UCONN - High powered arm and it seems the Indians covet arms, especially college arms, could see Archie Bradley but the price tag is too high for the Indians.
9. Chicago Cubs - Javier Baez, SS/3B, Arlington County Day School - Every year there is a surprise but this may not be as much of a surprise since Baez has been getting a lot of buzz this high in the draft.
10. San Diego Padres (Whitson - unsigned) - Alex Meyer, RHP, Kentucky - Jed drafted him when he was with the Red Sox and they have said that money will not be an issue. Meyer has moved up all spring with his performance and may go as as 6th to the Nats depending on how things shake up in the draft.

Seattle fan here loving the idea of getting Rendon...sweet dreams of Rendon, Nick Franklin, Ackley and Smoak around the IF...with that pitching staff! There is hope yet!
ReplyDeleteThere is a great chance you gonna get him I think the Pirates will be more entice with Cole. Cole is similar to Taillon only a couple of inches smaller.
ReplyDeleteThat would be some infield.
